It’s been a while…
Welcome back, committed readers, to Green Contours! And for those who are new, I hope you enjoy reading the first post in over a year.
Much has happened since I last published The Ordinary Review in July 2023. The site went quiet for a while as I planned another revamp of Green Contours, all while tending to matters outside of blogging. And, of course, a lot can happen in a year. I’ve observed a range of brands entering the cruelty-free world, the term “ethical” taking on new meanings, and a whole shift in trends and viral products.
Brands that are now cruelty-free
There is no denying my excitement when a brand I had so desperately wanted to join the cruelty-free list finally updates its policies and becomes part of the movement. Garnier has been a big one, given that it is such an affordable and popular brand. Avon became cruelty-free in 2024, a brand I had initially supported before learning about animal testing. It’s been 10 years, but the brand has finally made a turn for the better. Other big names that have joined the cruelty-free list include Rhode, Glossier, and Rare Beauty.
What is new with Green Contours?
In case you haven’t noticed, Green Contours has undergone its second revamp in 8 years. Initially, the blog was created for academic purposes, which you can read more about here.
Afterward, I transformed the blog into a beauty blog with a simple yet effective design of white and green, exuding that “eco-friendly” vibe that was so prevalent at the end of the 2010s.
However, I felt that the blog needed another change—who doesn’t love change? I wanted to add more color, more life, and more quirk to Green Contours.
Because that’s how I see beauty: colorful, quirky, and still ethical.
Taking on a new approach to blogging in a time when short-form video is the hype feels daunting, yet I remain hopeful that some people will still enjoy reading.

What’s new with me?
I’ll keep it short and sweet—I’ve been relearning, revamping, and resting.
Yes, I’ve been busy with other responsibilities and my “pays-the-bills” job. I’ve also been taking time to rest in my favorite way—traveling. I’ve visited new cities that have left an imprint on me and revisited my hometown to recharge. Traveling also inspired me to develop new ideas for Green Contours, as I took many beauty products with me on my trips.
Again, getting back to blogging can be quite daunting, and some might say it’s useless since no one really reads blogs anymore. But I do believe that trends come and go, and sometimes returning to written content can be beneficial for some.
What’s coming up?
In the forecast for Green Contours, there’s a chance of more reviews of new and favorite brands, more articles, and possibly new lists to come.
